FIND THE ARTIST WITHIN YOU

When we think of an artist we imagine a guy with a white beard and a robe making a sculpture out of a block of marble. Another option is to imagine a person drawing barefoot in front of a giant canvas with a palette of acrylic colors. None of these images look like us.

If you want to discover and connect with the artist that lives within you, the first thing you must do is reconnect with your natural artist, your inner child. All children are artists, you were one too. You drew no matter the technique or the result and you were proud of what you did.

If you haven’t drawn for a long time, this will not be an easy process, so this time we will do it together:

  • You can draw on paper or on your iPad (For this illustration, I’m using my iPad Air. My Apple Pencil, the Procreate app and the Crayon Procreate set.)
  • Start by making a simple sketch, then you can make edges in “ink” to give it strength using a basic round brush to create line art.

It’s more valuable finished than perfect

It doesn’t have to be perfect, remember it’s more valuable finished than perfect. If you try to draw without making mistakes, you will never be ready. Drawing is an exercise in self-confidence and liberation. Keep in mind that everyone is a potential artist. Digital drawing always allows you to make corrections and improvements. And sketching is just the beginning of the process. You can add color, shadows, light and texture to make your artwork really come to life.

Many of us are afraid to draw because we worry that we won’t be able to make something that looks good or that other people will think is good. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and keep trying until you achieve a result. Keep drawing until you feel proud of yourself, more than proud of your work.

Are you ready to draw? and let the creative process take you on a journey of self-discovery?
