Living a stressful life is not a good way to live. I’ve been trying to slow down and be more intentional about my decisions and my daily routine. Life usually makes us go too fast.
I am an artist and drawing is my way of slowing down. There are days when I need to calm my mind and forget everything. During those days, I chose to disconnect my mind by coloring some pages.

My mind rarely stops, but those thoughts aren’t always positive. Having the opportunity to slowdown my day and especially my mind is one of the greatest benefits of coloring.
Just 10 minutes of coloring can provide the same benefits as meditation.
Today’s world forces us to think about several different things at the same time. We must solve everything at once and this raises our stress level. When coloring we focus on the now, the current moment, the drawing, nothing else matters. Without the worries of the issues to be resolved, our nervous system relaxes and our mind reaches a greater level of depth.
Being mindful in the present moment is not an easy task. But it is a practice that allows us to fully enjoy reality without the distortion of the past or the rush of the future.
3. LEARN TO FOCUS:
Very few experiences teach us to concentrate. There are many distractions, notifications, and options to occupy your time. We read while we watch television, we talk on the phone while we take care of the children. Life is like this all the time. All distractions reduce our ability to concentrate, but we can exercise it in the same way we learned it as children, coloring.
Conscious coloring encourages us to focus our attention on how we choose and apply color in a drawing to bring our awareness to the present moment.
The continuous exercise of coloring allows us to maintain our concentration for longer and longer periods of time, we strengthen the mind as if we were going to a mental gym.
Coloring is a great form of self-expression. If you falsely believe you are not creative, coloring is a safe and easy way to express yourself. Create without limits: there is no right way or wrong way to color
I used to spend so much time on social media or watching tv. Coloring allows me to be creative and more intentional about how I spend my free time. You don’t have to be a great artist to use colored pencils. If you think creativity is not your strength, you may find coloring very satisfying and enjoyable.

Relaxing activities shouldn´t be something complicated. It has to be easy like closing your eyes and breathing. I like to choose easy. I have learned that I have no control over most things that happen but I do have control over my daily decisions and how I use my time.
The universe can live without us for 5 minutes. I used to do it in printed coloring pages then I found out I can do it using my iPad. Digital coloring is my favorite slowdown practice, it is easy, fun and very enjoyable. I like to listen to slow music and just start coloring. I do it between tasks or before having dinner. It helps me relax and release some of the anxiety from the day.
